Bellguard Schläger Fencing; Germany, c. 1910

A practice bout with seconds

A practice bout with seconds

Posing for a souvenir photograph…

What fraternity did A. Bräutigam and R. Buddensieg belong to? All I can say with certainty is that they were not members of a Kösener Corps. Here, they pose during the Paukstunde, the daily fencing practice. The fencers have removed their helmets, while their “seconds” are still attired in practice gear.

The weapons used are bellguard Schlägers, which indicates a university city East of the River Elbe.

Any Tramizuers chcking this out are cordially invited to check their membership lists for the two names.
