One could think this was a duel…

At first glance, you’d be justified to think that this is a duel. Then you notice that it is taking place in the presence of women (an absolute no-no)… who play the mandolin. The fencers are laughing… and wielding walking sticks, not épées. But the man on the left might be engaged in scorekeeping.
